twice nourished: chicago women's collaborations
Last month we had the good fortune of cooking for an incredibly talented group of women at the dinner series, Twice Nourished.
Created by Mandy Lancia, founder of The Glossary and Chelsea Chandler, founder of design studio, Lady January, Twice Nourished is a collaborative event series built around women, food and community.
“We built this series as a way for women to connect with each other while showcasing their skills, talents and passions, over good food and drink.” Sign us up!
Perry Fish, with Universal Standard provided a beautiful space at the size inclusive brands new West Loop showroom. Exposed beams, high ceilings, big beautiful windows, an open kitchen and long communal table, all made for the perfect setting.
There was a hand woven table runner and napkins by Chelcie Laggis of Elytra Textiles.
Brie Pflederer, of Splendor of Eden, created soft but dimensional floral centerpieces to grace the table.
Jessica Egan, of Little Fire Cermamics, handmade the most perfect plates, bowls and platters to enhance the vibrant, abundant summer menu we created.
In addition to providing the array of edible flowers and herbs we used for the dinner, Nina Lawrin also led us through a reconnecting herbal infusions session, which was a first for everyone in the group and so special to experience together. Chelsea designed the modern menus, Mandy and Ayaka Sano took stunning photos and video of the night and we all left with a custom face oil from Parisa Morris of Town & Anchor.
It was such a special night of connection, support and community and we are proud to now call all of these talented women friends.
What do you always have in your fridge?
Eggs, lemons, avocados, and so many veggies! Oh, and wine, always wine.
Favorite FARE menu item?
The Chocolate Chunk Cookies. They have such clean ingredients and happen to be vegan and gluten free, so basically like eating kale :)
When you're not at FARE?
I'm thinking about FARE or what I'm going to eat next. Or simultaneously doing both
What do you always have in your fridge?
Fruit (whatever's in season) avocados, lemons, greens for smoothies and plenty of veggies!
Favorite FARE menu item?
The avocado toast. I might be biased but I think it's the best in the city. The toppings change with the season so it never gets old.
When you're not at FARE?
I'm with my two little girls! You'll either find us outside in the sun, cooking something at home or dressed as fairies in the checkout line at Whole Foods :)
